Parquetry Timber Flooring Available in Sydney

Parquetry’s origin started with the French word parquet, which means “small compartment.” Parquetry timber floors are made of geometrical and angular shapes of wood. Once put into place, these small pieces can form a decorative pattern on the floor.

Presently, the most popular pattern is the so-called “herringbone.” But then again, despite its popularity, we still offer a variety of pattern styles for parquetry.

Like any timber flooring, parquetry is no exception to being premium, durable, sustainable, and eye-pleasing. Plus, parquet floors are also very easy to clean and maintain.

Parquetry is a unique floor system because it is a formation of minimalist block patterns, which is why the quality and value of this timber are for either new places or renovations.

Elite Timber Floors Sydney has installed parquetry and guided homeowners and business owners for 35 years. Our team has the right expertise you are looking for to help you.

Herringbone Parquetry

It is called herringbone parquet because the floor design imitates herring fish bones. The parquet usually uses smaller wooden blocks than the usual planks. These blocks are cut into precise rectangles and laid in a thunderstruck zigzag pattern.

Because this parquet design follows a consistent shape and size, it creates a very uniform look while maintaining a very stylish look.

Herringbone parquet has earned its reputation as the pinnacle of sophistication among parquetry timbers.

It’s called such because of its exclusivity in the past. Before, only manor houses and pricey decorators could afford to have the design. But nowadays, they’re completely affordable. Hence, it’s been made available to the mainstream market.

Mosaic Parquetry

This one is also called finger parquetry, and unlike herringbone, its pattern follows a square-on-square design.

As you can see in terms of parquet, mosaic parquet is a traditional style that dates back decades ago. However, this parquet’s popularity is that most contractors can infuse new techniques while incorporating the old stylish ambiance.

Your mosaic parquet can come in three different sizes.

5 Finger: 120mm
6 Finger: 134mm
7 Finger: 145mm

In terms of thickness, all sizes come in at 8mm thick.

Chevron Parquetry

This parquet is as old as the herringbone design, but did not originally start as parquet but rather a fashion design.
The parquet name is also named in inspiration for St. Elisabeth of Hungary.

Chevron parquet uses the same zigzag pattern as herringbone. However, this one is more uniform to form a true point instead of a staggered pattern.

Chevron blocks also come in a rectangular shape. But unlike herringbone, it doesn’t have straight edges because the blocks are cut at an angle.

The pattern features of the parquet will also allow your rooms to look more spacious.

And by the way, both the Chevron and herringbone designs are classified as engineered parquetry.

French Panel Designs

If you are enthusiastic about recapturing the 18th-century scenery, this parquetry works.

French designs for parquetry come with two famous options: Versailles and Marie Antoinette.

Versailles is square wood blocks made from a plank of waxed oak wood. It’s a fashionable decoration commonly displayed in mansions, castles, and reception halls.

Marie Antoinette, on the contrary, is made of basket-weaving patterns from either cherry or oak wood. They are long-lasting and stunning, with their intricate basket shape recreation.

There is not much of a difference between the two French designs. It’s only the pattern, like what’s with the engineered parquetries.

As such, both panel sizes come in.

  • 590mm x 590mm
  • 726mm x 726mm
  • 826mm x 826mm

All sizes are of 19mm thickness.

Both French panels can also have a clear finish and be stained or coloured.
